Whether Praiano makes sense as a lodging base depends on your tolerance for inconvenience and appetite for local immersion. The village rewards those who treat it as a home base rather than a hub. Sunsets from the Church of San Gennaro terrace cost nothing. Breakfast on a hotel balcony overlooking the Faraglioni di Capri remains unobstructed. The lack of evening crowds means restaurants serve locals as often as visitors, and prices reflect that. Praiano accommodation typically costs 30 to 50 percent less than equivalent properties in Positano. The village works best for travelers who plan to explore the coast by boat or bus rather than on foot, who prefer early nights to late-night bar culture, and who value character over convenience.
